Dr. Swidiq Mugerwa
Deputy Director General, Research Coordination
He is a livestock scientist with over 15 years of experience in agricultural research and development. He has a Ph.D. in Dryland Resources Management, a Master of Science in Animal Science, and a Bachelor of Science in Agriculture, along with a number of professional courses and awards.
He has rich work experience in the planning and strategic coordination of research systems, monitoring and evaluation of research systems, environmental and social impact assessments of research interventions, big data management, project planning and management, risk analysis, early warning systems, and research priority setting.
Dr. Mugerwa has over 90 publications in peer-reviewed journals, technical reports, books, and book chapters to his name. He sits on a number of boards, editorial and review committees that focus on livestock and agriculture. He has contributed greatly to the knowledge and mentored a number of young scientists pursuing livestock research.
Prior to this appointment, Dr. Mugerwa had been working as the Director of Research at the National Livestock Resources Research Institute (NaLIRRI), Nakyesasa.
