According to Prof. Gudula Naiga Basaza, the Founder and Managing Director of Gudie Leisure Farm, the youths are confronted with problems of unemployment, insufficient money and poor standards of living.

Through the skills fairs, Prof. Gudula said that they want to see the youths playing an active role in solving some of the challenges that we have in our times.

She disclosed that Gudie Leisure Farm has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with NARO for technical backstopping and to ensure that improved NARO technologies in context of white meat value chain-chicken, fish, pigs, sweet potatoes, cassava and nutritious beans (NAROBEANS) to mention but a few-reach the youths at the parish entrepreneurship and learning associations.

Speaking on behalf of BuZARDI, Mr. Zaabwe Thaddeus (an Aquaculture Technician), said that the Institute has an impeccable reputation in skilling youths.

He cited the recent partnership with Maendeleo Ya Jamii with funding from Belgian Development Agency (Enabel) that saw 100 youths in the Albertine Graben trained in apiculture, horticulture and aquaculture enterprises.

Mr. Zaabwe encouraged the youths to always come and interact with the experts at BuZARDI on the various technologies that have been generated to enhance production and productivity. At these events, BuZARDI showcased NARO elite chicken, cassava (NAROCAS 1 and NASE 14), improved chicken housing, chicken feeds (maize bran and Russian Comfrey), drinkers, brooding pot, brooder ring and fish feeds.
