Establishment of Botanic Gardens for evaluation of crops that could be grown for export and food security in the Ugandan Protectorate

The historical Entebbe Botanical Gardens established in 1898 is home to over 500 different plant species. They are situated on the northern shores of lake Victoria occupying 40.7 hectares of land with a kilometer stretch along the shoreline. The Gardens are currently a popular attraction for tourists, students and researcher, for leisure, education and awareness, conservation and knowledge generation.
