NARL Quarterly E-Bulletin, April - June, 2023

On April 19th, 2023, the Minister of Agriculture, Animal Industry, and Fisheries (MAAIF), Hon. Frank Tumwebaze appointed Dr. Yona Baguma as the new Director General (DG) of NARO replacing Dr. Ambrose Agona. Consequently on the 5th May 2023 , Dr. Yona Baguma received office from his predecessor in the presence of Rtd. Major General David Kasura Kyomukama the Permanent Secretary of MAAIF, NARO’s top management, NARO Governing Council, Public Agricultural Research Institutes (PARI) Directors of Research, and staff of NARO. Until his current appointment, Dr. Baguma worked as the Deputy Director General in charge of Research Coordination. He is a distinguished scientist with over 30 years of work experience as a researcher and manager at NARO. Speaking at the same occasion, the new DG acknowledged the task and responsibilities that the position brings. Noting that he is aware of the work to be done and pledged to perform his duties in order to accomplish NARO’s purpose. He acknowledged that NARO staff are his first clients with whom he will work closely.
