The Ambassador of Sweden to Uganda, Her Excellency Maria Hankasson visited the National Livestock resources research institute in Nakyesasa on Thursday 8th December 2022 on a familiarization tour. She was received by Dr. Ambrose Agona the Director General of NARO together with Dr. Kassim Sadik the Deputy Director General of Technology promotion with the staff of NaLIRRI.
She was pleased with the kind of research work being done in NARO, especially the presence of research products along the livestock value chain while being conscious of environmental conservation and sustainability aspects. She was happy to see that the long-time support to research in Uganda has built capacity and benefited critical work addressing current challenges for the country’s farmers.
Dr. Agona appreciated the support provided over the years, especially through SIDA. He said espouses strategic partnerships that support research work and development. He affirmed that investments in NARO will always get good returns on investment. A number of NARO staff have benefitted from capacity-building support for Master’s and Ph.D. studies over the years.
