Who We Are

Bulindi Zonal Agricultural Research and Development Institute (Bulindi ZARDI) is one of the 16 Public Agricultural Research Institutes (PARIs) under the National Agricultural Research Organisation (NARO) in Uganda.

Its origin traces back to the 1960s when it began as the Bunyoro District Farm Institute. Over the decades, it has undergone significant transformations, reflecting its evolving role in agricultural research and development landscape in the region. In February 2001, it was elevated to the status of an Agricultural Research and Development Centre, marking a shift toward a more research-focused mandate.

This transition culminated in 2006 when, following the National Agricultural Research Act (19 of 2005, section 28), it became a fully-functional Zonal Agricultural Research and Development Institute (ZARDI) and was named Bulindi ZARDI.

Bulindi ZARDI operates within the Lake Albert Crescent Zone (LACZ) of Uganda, specifically in the Bunyoro region, which encompasses eight districts: Kiryandongo, Hoima, Kikuube, Buliisa, Kibaale, Kagadi, Kakumiro, and Masindi, as well as Hoima city.
