Acting Program Leader

Dr. Atuhaire Andrew Mwebaze is the Senior Research Officer and acting Program Leader Animal Resources in National Agricultural Research Organization (NARO), visiting lecturer to Kyambogo University and Bishop Stuat University.
He holds a PhD in Veterinary Medicine, Livestock Nutrition (Ruminants) from Makerere University Kampala, a Master’s degree in Livestock Development from Makerere University and Bachelor’s degree in Animal Management, Technologies and Production from Makerere University Kampala.
Dr. Atuhaire Andrew Mwebaze is a distinguished scientist with over 25 years of experience as extensionist, researcher, and a leader (Google Scholar, ResearchGate). He started as extension officer in Local Government, Farm Manager, Research Officer in NARO and rose through ranks to a position of Acting Program Leader of NARO to date.
Recognized leader in livestock extension, management and research, he has represented local government and NARO in various fora and helped initiate innovative transformative approaches in livestock research for impact.
He has earned life membership at Mbarara Farmers Association, served as Vice Chairman Kashaka Dairy Farmers Cooperative Society, Rotary International and he is a Golfer among others.
Dr. Atuhaire has initiated and supported several local community development initiatives in the Church, SACCOs and educational development as part of his contribution towards national economic transformation.
