Dr. Gabriel Ddamulira

Dr. Gabriel Ddamulira is Principal Research Officer (PRO) and a Programme (PL) of Horticulture and Oil Palm Programme in NARO. Gabriel holds a BSc, MSc and PhD in Plant Breeding and Biotechnology from Makerere University Kampala Uganda. As a researcher based at National Crops Resource Research Institute (NaCRRI) in Uganda, Gabriel works with fellow scientists, academia, extensionist, farmers, and students to generate agricultural technologies and innovations that improve crop productivity.
Gabriel has keen Interest in crop improvement particularly breeding and crop agronomy He has always been at the forefront in solving issues related to food security through his crop improvement research undertakings. In his 15 years of horticultural research several improved vegetable lines and crop management practices have been developed and used in the horticulture programme to develop new varieties and practices that have contributed to increased food and nutrition security in the country.
He has also contributed enormously towards horticultural research through 10 research projects he has successful undertaken, 30 publications and a book chapter published in reputable peer reviewed journals. Gabriel also mentored several young researchers through supervising MSc and PhD research as well as team building for horticulture staff.
