Dr. Robert Muzira
Senior Soil Scientist
Dr. Robert Muzira is the Acting Director at Mbarara Zonal Agricultural Research and Development Institute (MBAZARDI), an Institute of NARO located in the South Western Agro ecological Zone (SWAEZ) of Uganda.
He holds a PhD in Agriculture (Soil Science), a Master’s degree in Soil Science, and a Bachelor’s degree in Agriculture (Soil Science) from Makerere University.
Dr. Robert Muzira is a distinguished scientist with 30years of experience as a researcher and leader. He started as a Research Officer in NARO and was later promoted to a rank of Senior Research Officer and Program Leader of Crops and Natural Resources Program, the positions he holds to date.
Recognized as a leader in agricultural research, he has represented NARO in various fora and helped initiate innovative transformative approaches to agricultural research for impact. He has partnered with both local and international research and development institutions in project development and implementation.
Dr. Robert Muzira’s interest and focus is on initiatives that put the farmer at the forefront of sustainable economic growth. As part of his contribution to his local community, Dr. Robert Muzira in partnership with other scientists and researchers has contributed to the development and application of bio fertilizers as an avenue to enhance farmers’ resilience to the negative effects of climate change and climate variability.
