Dr Stanley Nkalubo

Director of Research, Rwebitaba ZARDI

Dr. Nkalubo, originally a soil scientist from Makerere University, transitioned into plant breeding and has become a renowned bean breeder in Uganda, with over 24 years of agricultural research experience.

In 2022, NARO recognized him as the most compliant breeder, particularly for his efforts in supporting the commercialization of plant varieties and ensuring the availability of breeder seed for foundation seed production.

Dr. Nkalubo holds an MSc in Soil Science from Makerere University and a PhD in Plant Breeding from the University of KwaZulu-Natal in South Africa.

He has secured and managed over USD 3 million in research grants, focusing on the improvement of biofortified bean varieties and the commercialization of beans with enhanced nutritional and yield value.
