Ms. Nakyagaba Nabiteeko Winfred
Research Officer – Crop Agronomy
Ms. Nakyagaba Nabiteeko Winfred is a Research Officer in Crop Agronomy with 33 years of agricultural practice, including 19 years in agricultural research. She holds an MSc in Crop Science (2015), a BSc in Agriculture (Hons, 2000), a National Diploma (1994), and a National Certificate (1992); her MSc thesis optimized sesame population in finger millet–sesame intercropping, and her BSc project evaluated orange- and yellow-fleshed sweet potato for yield, beta-carotene, and consumer acceptability.
Winfred’s expertise spans crop agronomy, farming systems analysis, soil fertility, pest and disease management, climate change adaptation, gender analysis, and value chain studies, alongside social and participatory research using multi-stakeholder innovation platforms (MSIPs). Over the last decade she has focused on Robusta coffee and climate change, and also works on bananas and vegetables.
Her research interests include closing yield gaps through improved crop management, advancing sustainable and ecological production practices (including organic sector development), promoting local innovations and Participatory Innovation Development, and conducting rigorous surveys to inform farmer-centered solutions.
