The Corporate Services Department at NARO plays a crucial role in the organization’s administrative and operational functions. It is part of the NARO Secretariat, which supports the NARO Governing Council in executing its roles.

Essentially, the Corporate Services Department provides the essential administrative and logistical backbone that enables NARO to focus on its core mandate of coordinating and overseeing public-funded agricultural research in Uganda.

Managing communication strategies for the organization.

Coordinating legal services and establishing a framework for the effective utilization of both in-house and external legal service providers.

Providing guidance on specifications for research infrastructure, laboratory equipment, and general civil works, and supervising civil works to ensure compliance with environmental and social safeguard management system requirements.

Overseeing the organization's procurement systems, procedures, and processes for goods, services, and consultancies.

Developing, directing, and coordinating an organization-wide framework for research quality delivery.

 

Dr. Stevens Kisaka's Profile


Dr. Stevens Kisaka is a veterinary scientist, consultant epidemiologist, researcher, and management professional with over 15 years of experience. He possesses a Doctorate (Epidemiology) from the University of Nairobi, Kenya; a Master of Science; a Master of Public Health from Makerere University; and a Bachelor of Veterinary Medicine from Makerere University, Uganda. He also holds a Master of Business Administration from the Eastern and Southern African Management Institute (ESAMI) and a Postgraduate Diploma in Project Planning and Management from the Uganda Management Institute (UMI).

He has expertise in coordination of national and cross-border research, corporate governance, strategy development, project management, and resource mobilization. He has managed several international and national research grants, projects, programs, and partnerships.

He is widely published in the areas of livestock production, food safety, and zoonotic diseases (ORCiD, Google Scholar)  and has served as a consultant for various projects in the Ministry of Agriculture, Animal Industry, and Fisheries (Uganda); the World Health Organization (WHO); and the Ministry of Health (Uganda).

Prior to this appointment, Dr. Kisaka was working as a lecturer at Makerere University, Kampala.
